Visitor Information

Visitation Policy

  • Visiting hours at Virtua Marlton, Virtua Mount Holly, Virtua Voorhees, and Virtua Willingboro hospitals are 24 hours a day, seven days a week, though department-specific exceptions exist (please see below). 
  • Visting hours for Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the week (see below for department-specific exceptions).
  • Restrictions may be enacted when flu and/or respiratory activity is high in the community, and face masks may be required in certain areas. All visitors must cooperate with all safety protocols as requested or instructed by Virtua staff.

Department-Specific Requirements

Pediatrics

  • One or both parents/guardians can visit/remain with a patient who is a minor at any time.
  • Other designated support persons may visit until 8 p.m. each day.

Labor and Delivery

  • Up to three specifically identified support persons can accompany a laboring patient.
  • A doula is considered part of the care team and is not included in the visitor capacity limit.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery

  • Up to two parents/guardians have unlimited visitation.
  • Identified support persons may visit any time so long as a parent/guardian is present and there are no more than three people at the baby's bedside.
  • Children under 18 years old are not permitted.

Behavioral Health Units (Virtua Mount Holly and Virtua Willingboro hospitals)

  • One designated visitor per patient can visit by appointment only from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hospital Patients in Isolation

  • Visitation is limited for patients who in quarantine isolation, which may include patents who are positive for COVID-19 or under investigation for COVID-19.
  • Exceptions are granted for patients with disabilities upon request. Speak with your loved one's care team for specific guidance.

Requirements of All Visitors

  • All visitors are asked to comply with Visitor guidelines as set forth to maintain the safety of patients, colleagues, and visitors so as to minimize the potential spread of infection.
  • Visitors who show signs of illness - such as coughing and/or “cold-like” symptoms - are asked to refrain from visitation and may also be asked by staff to leave if such symptoms are present.
  • If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 7 days, we ask that you postpone your visit to avoid transmitting the virus to vulnerable patients.
  • While face masks are no longer required in most cases, there may be situations where you will be asked to wear a mask. This may include:
    • When the patient you are visiting has a respiratory illness or symptoms
    • When another individual in the room in which you are visiting requests that you mask
    • In some instances for those patients who may be immune compromised
    • When the amount of COVID-19 circulating in the community increases
  • Face masks will be provided anywhere they are required.
  • Visitors to patients diagnosed with COVID-19 must wear a mask and gown for safety.
  • Visitors to patients who are on isolation precautions will be instructed in what personal protective equipment (PPE) they need to wear to enter the patient’s room.
  • Visitor will apply hand sanitizer (gel) at time of entry and will be instructed to wash hands on entering and leaving patient rooms.
  • Visitors are asked to review the screening questions upon arrival to ensure it is safe for them to visit their loved one.
  • Visitor will receive a visitor pass that signifies permission to visit. This must be visible at all times.
  • Visitor may on occasions may be requested to step outside of patient rooms during certain periods or treatments.

These requirements are designed to keep you, your loved ones, other patients, and our staff safe. We appreciate your cooperation.
